*** PRESS RELEASE ***
SOUTH MAIN STREET PRODUCTIONS' TITUS ANDRONICUS PREMIERES EXCLUSIVELY AT THE CABLE CAR CINEMA On August 26, 2000, South Main Street Productions' first movie, William Shakespeare's TITUS ANDRONICUS, will premiere at the Cable Car Cinema, Providence, RI. Directed by Richard Griffin on a tighter-than-shoestring budget, utilizing locations entirely within the state of Rhode Island and starring Sandra Feinstein-Gamm Theatre's artistic director, Nigel Gore, in the title role, TITUS ANDRONICUS is a stylish retelling of Shakespeare's earliest and most misunderstood tragedy. Whereas other adaptations of the play, such as Julie Taymor's TITUS, have concentrated on the more sensational and violent aspects of the play, Richard Griffin's vision highlights the intrigue and complex cycle of vengeance triggered by one person's lack of compassion and a senseless act of violence. Nigel Gore brings humanity and passion to a character long neglected in the history of drama. The lead cast is rounded out by Zoya Pierson as Tamora, Queen of the Goths; John Capalbo as Lucius Andronicus; and Chris Perrotti as Marcus Andronicus. The limited run engagement will be held exclusively at the Cable Car Cinema and will begin Saturday and Sunday, August 26 - 27 at 3:00 pm and continue from Monday, August 28 through Thursday, August 31 at 9:00 pm.
